Gutters and artificial grass: How to avoid damage to the installation?
Usually, plastic or stainless metal gutters are installed on the edges of the roofs to collect rainwater, so it falls directly to the ground through drainage pipes or chains and later be drained through a sewer connected to the property's underground system or the street where it is located.
However, if the homeowner has not installed gutters, the artificial grass contractor should advise the client of the consequences of not having them, before giving a quote or laying the synthetic turf.
Otherwise, as time passes, trenches will form and the installation will be damaged by the impact of the continuous fall of water, even if the floor is made of concrete or stones, or of natural or synthetic grass.
The client should know that the installation of the gutters will save him greater expenses for renovating the land in the future.
Now, in the case that the channels are already installed, the contractor must verify that they are in good condition, and if not, then recommend their repair or replacement.
Once this check-up stage has been completed, the installer will make sure to take the necessary measures so that there are no future problems at these points where the drains and the grass meet.
Neighbors' roofs
Sometimes the roof of the neighboring residence, especially the patio at the back of the house where you want to install the artificial grass, do not have gutters, and therefore the rainwater falls somewhere on the client's land.
However, these neighbors usually do not want to spend an unprofitable expense. So the client is the one who assumes the installation and expenses of the neighboring gutter because, in the long term, it will be for their own benefit.
Collection and reuse of water
If the proper installation is done with the placement of special containers under the water outlet tube, this can become a source of savings when it is collected, since it can be used to irrigate plants and trees or even the garden itself of synthetic grass in the very hot weather. But we warn that this cannot be done in all states, since in some there are certain regulations that prohibit the collection of rainwater. Therefore, we suggest that before installing these containers, the client should read the laws of the state where they live to avoid committing violations for the use of these water tanks.
